A Year To Remember
A Message from director of athletics
drew marrochello
We take pride in attracting students from all over the country and around the globe who love to compete, excel and learn with an eagerness to benefit from our world-class educators and coaches. When we welcome in a new class of Terriers, we encourage a community mindset where individual goals intersect with both team and department goals, pursuing excellence together while supporting one another.
As you will see, 2022-23 was a banner year for Athletics in many areas. All of our programs in the Patriot League finished in the top half of their standings and we claimed three conference titles, including men’s ice hockey, which had a thrilling run to the Frozen Four. Our 3.35 department grade-point average was our highest on record thanks to over 80 percent of the student-athlete body achieving a 3.0. We also had a record-setting fundraising year as over 7,000 gifts were made from individuals who were compelled to contribute to our mission of providing a first-class experience for our Terriers.
I hope you enjoy taking a look back at all of our achievements from this past year and share in our optimism for even more success for the year ahead. This is undoubtedly due to the built momentum combined with the support throughout campus and beyond.

Q: Why BU?
Lots of reasons! In short, BU offers a world-class academic and athletic environment in one of the most dynamic cities in the world. I was also particularly struck by BU's founding principles and focus on service of the wider community.
Q: Favorite lunch spot?
There are so many to choose from! Life Alive and Otto Pizza are two of the best near the pool.
Q: Current favorite workout song?
Depends on the workout, but anything from Beyonce’s album “Renaissance” will usually do the trick.
Q: Last book you read?
As a past double major in English and Writing, two of my recent favorites have been the novel Less by Andrew Sean Greer and the memoir Taste by Stanley Tucci.
Q: Favorite way to get around Boston?
I love jumping on my bike to get around and see different Boston neighborhoods, and to get some great views along the Charles.
